Peoples Bank & Trust Donates to Dr. Charles M. Wright House - Altamont

Terri Beal, AVP, Consumer Banking at Peoples Bank & Trust recently presented a check for $500.00 to Scott Beal, Vice-President of the Dr. Charles M. Wright House Community Advisory Board. In giving back to the community, Peoples Bank & Trust is committed to not only serving our customers, but also the communities it serves.

The Dr. Charles M. Wright House is a not-for-profit private house museum. The home was built in 1889 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home contains the original furnishings of its three generations of occupants. Dr. Wright gifted the house to the city of Altamont along with $250,000 to maintain the house forever. The house is open for tours every Sunday afternoon in April through October. The volunteers hold a wine festival each year as their primary fundraiser. The house is a treasured attraction in Altamont, but the cost of maintaining it is great. The slate roof was recently replaced at a cost of over $60,000.
