Peoples Bank & Trust Contributes to Christian County YMCA
December 27, 2018
Peoples Bank & Trust recently contributed $12,000 to the Christian County YMCA to be used for various projects. Jennifer Nagle, VP Consumer Banking and Sarah Van Huss, AVP, Consumer Banking presented the checks to Chris Weittenhiller, Executive Director and CEO of the Christian County YMCA.
The Christian County YMCA is now in their third year of the After School childcare program for Kindergarten to Fifth grade students in Pana. The program is offered at Washington Elementary from dismissal of school until 6:00 p.m. daily, with district bus transportation provided for Lincoln Elementary and Sacred Heart students. The program provides a positive environment with adult supervision offering healthy snacks and structured activities including homework assistance, arts/crafts, games, sports, free play and more. Recognizing the positive impact this program had on the youth and families in the community during its first two years, Peoples Bank & Trust has agreed to be a major sponsor for this program again this year. In an effort to keep program fees as low as possible and encourage participation, Peoples Bank & Trust is making a generous donation of $5,000 to the YMCA for the 2018-2019 school year. Additionally, scholarships are available to those who qualify through the YMCA’s Financial Assistance program that supports the organizations practice of not denying services to anyone based on an inability to pay.
Peoples Bank & Trust also contributed $6,000 to the YMCA’s Debt Reduction Campaign allowing them to reach their goal of $100,000. The Bank also contributed $1,000 to the YMCA’s 2019 Annual Sustaining Drive. The Annual Sustaining Drive helps provide program support and financial assistance to kids, families, and individuals who need it in our community. The YMCA subsidizes over $100,000 annually through its financial assistance program.
