Peoples Bank & Trust Donates to First United Methodist Food Pantry

May 27, 2020

Ashley Basso, VP Business Banking recently presented a donation to the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry for $2,000. Peoples Bank & Trust is making $22,000 in donations to 11 food pantries in its market areas. The bank received significant funding for the program due to its membership in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB).

The First United Methodist Food Pantry is located at 205 W. Main Street in Shelbyville. Food distribution takes place on Monday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. They are complying with all Central Illinois Food Bank rules during the pandemic. The food pantry relies on monetary and non-perishable food item donations to provide for those in need. Donations can be left at the Church Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monetary donations can also be mailed.

The bank wishes to help meet the growing needs in our communities during the pandemic and use the opportunity to educate the public that the federal stimulus CARES Act provides taxpayers an additional incentive to help. Individual taxpayers that do not itemize expenses may claim up to $300 in an ‘above-the-line’ income tax deduction for monetary donations made in 2020.
