Peoples Bank & Trust Donates to Northwestern Food Pantry

Kara Bridges, Customer Service Representative, recently presented a donation to the Northwestern Food Pantry for $2,000. Accepting the donation of behalf of the pantry are Cassie and Lonnie Newberry. Peoples Bank & Trust is making $22,000 in donations to 11 food pantries in its market areas. The bank received significant funding for the program due to its membership in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB).
The Northwestern Food Pantry is located at 109 E Lewis St. in Palmyra. The food pantry relies on monetary and non-perishable food item donations to provide for those in need. They are open the first Saturday of each month.
The bank wishes to help meet the growing needs in our communities during the pandemic and use the opportunity to educate the public that the federal stimulus CARES Act provides taxpayers an additional incentive to help. Individual taxpayers that do not itemize expenses may claim up to $300 in an ‘above-the-line’ income tax deduction for monetary donations made in 2020.
