Peoples Bank & Trust Donates to St. Paul ELCA Area Food Pantry

May 21, 2020

Terri Beal, AVP, Consumer Banking recently presented a donation to the St. Paul ELCA Food Pantry for $2,000. Peoples Bank & Trust is making $22,000 in donations to 11 food pantries in its market areas. The bank received significant funding for the program due to its membership in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB).

The St. Paul Grace Food Pantry, serving Altamont since the 1990’s, is housed in the St. Paul ELCA church on Rt. 40 west of Altamont, IL. The food pantry relies on monetary and non-perishable food item donations to provide for those in need. Food distribution takes place the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The bank wishes to help meet the growing needs in our communities during the pandemic and use the opportunity to educate the public that the federal stimulus CARES Act provides taxpayers an additional incentive to help. Individual taxpayers that do not itemize expenses may claim up to $300 in an ‘above-the-line’ income tax deduction for monetary donations made in 2020.
